Railways would be the first government department to install face recognition system for attendance, said minister

LAHORE: A Computerised Face Recognition System (CFRS) was being introduced for employees' attendance in the department, said Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday.

He said the railways would be the first government department to install the face recognition system for attendance. Experiment of modern CFRS system had proved successful at the Directorate of Information Technology Laboratory, he added.

The workers of workshops were unable to use biometric system for attendance due to bruises on their hands. But, now it would be possible to recognise them through the CFRS. The minister said protection of the CFRS machines would be made through installation of CCTV cameras and bullet-proof glasses and there would be no need to touch the machines for employees.
