Cash For Cricketers: Punjab, Centre’s replies sought

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought replies from the federal and Punjab governments by May 3 to a writ petition challenging the payment of Rs3.5 million each to Pakistan’s cricketers after they reached the World Cup semi finals. Petitioner Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree submitted that the Pakistani team did not deserve reward for failure, and giving them money was a waste since it could be better spent on welfare. He said if politicians wanted to give the cricketers money, they should do so from their own pockets.
