Defence minister, army chief discuss security situation

Separately, newly-appointed Naval chief also meets COAS and discusses matters of professional interest, says ISPR

Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan called on Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Matters relating to defence and security situation in the country were discussed during the meeting, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.



Prior to the meeting, the minister was briefed at Military Operations Directorate on the country's security situation, the communique added.

Naval chief calls on COAS

Separately, newly-appointed Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi called on Gen Qamar at the GHQ, the military's media wing said.



"Matters of professional interest were discussed," the statement added. "The COAS congratulated Admiral Zafar on assumption of command of Pakistan Navy."

Earlier, upon arrival, the CNS laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha for the martyrs.
