Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry to identify the people responsible for changing the declaration related to Khatm-e-Nabuwwat in the election nomination form.

During the passage of Election Act 2017, the inadvertent removal of the clause, which the government declared a "clerical error" had drawn criticism from across the country.

On Wednesday, the National Assembly unanimously amended the act to restore clauses related to Khatm-e-Nabuwwat to their original form.

The committee has been directed to identify those whose negligence led to the changes in the Khatm-e-Nabuwat declaration within 24 hours and present a report to the party president, Nawaz, who will take action against them as per party policy.
