Fake intelligence official arrested in Karachi
Unlicensed 9mm pistol with 5 rounds, drugs and fake property documents seized from suspect's possession
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Rangers Sindh rounded up, on Friday, a 'fake intelligence official' who was allegedly involved in criminal activities, including deceiving innocent citizens in Karachi.
During routine snap-checking, the paramilitary force personnel intercepted a car in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city and the driver claimed to be a serving major of an intelligence agency, said a statement.
Will resign if I can't find out who deployed Rangers at court: Ahsan
The man failed to produce his service ID, however, an unlicensed 9mm pistol with five rounds, drugs and fake property documents were seized from his possession.
"He, while exposing himself as a major, used to cheat the families of the arrested people promising them he will help them in the release of their loved ones," a spokesperson for the paramilitary force said.
"This gang has been involved in land grabbing and also used to provide their services in helping people get their lands back from squatters," he added.
Rangers deployment: Court fiasco doesn’t portend clash of institutions, says ISPR
Two more members of the gang, Ghulam Farid and Ali Hassan were also taken into custody.
