'Missing' KU associate professor returns home safe and sound

Dr Muhammad Ismail says he was taken into custody and interrogated about KU's student activities

The associate professor of the University of Karachi, who had been missing for the last 18 days, has returned to his home safe and sound, Express News reported.

Dr Muhammad Ismail of the university’s Department of Islamic Studies was picked up the law-enforcement agencies on September 15, as claimed by his wife Amna Ismail. However, his family said he got back home during the wee hours of Wednesday and is ‘fine’ now.



Speaking to the Express News, Ismail confirmed that law enforcement agencies (LEAs) had taken him into custody to interrogate him. “They asked me about a few students after naming them to which I said that I go to the varsity for teaching and have no information on the students’ activities outside the institute,” he said.

It has not been ascertained as to why Ismail was taken into custody by the law enforcers or if he had connections with any banned outfits operating in the city.
