Sharif decides to stay put, not go into exile: party insiders
Nawaz made it clear that he would not go into exile if his legal situation went south, but would stay in the country.
Deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif will not go quietly into the night and will face all charges brought against him, according to party insiders.
This was among the decisions agreed to by Sharif and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership in their first formal meeting after his reinstatement as party president.
According to sources, the first part of the strategy recommends opening talks with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to get the reconciliation process back on track.
Sharif is expected to meet Asif Zardari in this regard soon. The meeting with Zardari will be initiated with the help of JUI-F leader Fazlur Rehman and ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.
For PM, offence is the best defence
The ruling party is also set to hold talks with other parties.
The PML-N wants to pass legislation regarding accountability rules and other matters of national interest before the end of October.
Sharif has also consulted the party's senior leadership and decided to remain in the country and face all charges brought against him in court, sources said.
It was also decided that if any non-bailable arrest warrants are issued for Sharif, he will present himself to the authorities for arrest.
During the meeting, Sharif made it clear that he would not go into exile if his legal situation went south, but would stay in the country.
Sources said Sharif is also busy trying to reconcile with Chaudhry Nisar, and apparently wants to reinstate him at the interior ministry.
