HANGU: Firing on a passenger pickup by unknown assailants left at least one person dead and two injured in Buland Khel area on Monday, an official of political administration said. The passenger pickup was moiving along a desolate stretch of road on its way to Thall tehsil of Hangu district from the Shawa area of North Waziristan when it was ambushed by some unknown assailants.

One of the passengers, Farmanullah, was hit by a volley of bullets to his upper torso and died on the spot. Two others, Asif and Ihsan, also received bullet injuries, but survived.

The injured were immediately shifted to Thall Hospital. The administration official said that initial reports suggest that the motive behind the attack was personal enmity. However, he said, it would be premature to comment as investigation were still going on.
