Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and his predecessor Nawaz Sharif met in London on Saturday where the former told the latter that the success of their party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the recent NA-120 by-election was a victory for democracy.

Abbasi met the former PM at the office of the latter's son, Hassan Nawaz, Express News reported.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Nawaz's other son Hussain Nawaz also attended the meeting.

Sources said PM Abbasi and Nawaz discussed their party's future course of action.

They also discussed the victory of Kulsoom Nawaz, PML-N candidate and Nawaz's wife, in the by-election for NA-120, a seat left vacant after the Supreme Court in its July 28 landmark judgement had disqualified her husband.

Nawaz is in London because his wife, who is suffering from lymphoma, is undergoing treatment there.

Kulsoom was diagnosed with blood cancer last month.
