Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has been diagnosed with throat cancer, a report has claimed.

Quoting sources, Express News reported that the former first lady was diagnosed with the disease in London, where she went for medical tests last week.

Doctors, however, said the type of cancer Kulsoom is suffering from is treatable, saying she will undergo treatment soon for a speedy recovery.

Kulsoom, the sources added, will not be part of the campaign to contest elections in NA-120 constituency, the seat which fell vacant following Nawaz’s dismissal.

Insiders said Maryam Nawaz will lead the campaign, adding that Kulsoom may also join the drive in the last week prior to the polls.

A five-member Supreme Court bench on July 28 disqualified Nawaz from the PM’s office for failing to declare a salary, which he had not withdrawn as an executive of Dubai-based company, as an asset when filing his nomination papers in 2013.

Politics is greedy, makes a person greedy. May Allah protect all of us. Cancer is not a big deal. With early diagnosis the treatment is simple. I am just thankful to Allah, for everything he has blessed. Feel sorry for poor souls of Pakistan politics who never quit. May Allah give them guidance too.Ameen.Recommend

It is sad that after being in power for 30 years, the family’s diseases can be diagnosed and treated only in London. If the diagnosis is true, unlike open heart surgery of her husband, shouldn’t she be worried about her health than fighting elections. Recommend

I hope she dies as early as possible to meet her creator. We as muslims do not celebrate this transient life as much as life after…life here after is more perpetual and meaningful. She could be the shaheed-e-jamhoriat. I hope she attains status of shahadah as early as possible. Recommend
