Army chief confirms death sentences of four ‘hardcore’ terrorists

Suspects were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, attacking armed forces: ISPR

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has confirmed death sentences for four hardcore terrorists who were tried by military courts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the terrorists were involved in “heinous offences related to terrorism, including abducting and slaughtering of soldiers, attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces of Pakistan.”

They were involved in killing of 21 persons and injuring another person,” the ISPR said, adding arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

The military courts were set up through the 21st amendment after the grisly attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.

Details of terrorists awarded death penalty:

Shabbir Ahmed, son of Muhammad Shafique was involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Major Adnan and 10 soldiers. He was also involved in kidnapping and slaughtering of four soldiers.

Umara Khan, son of Ahmed Khan was involved in attacking armed forces, which resulted in death of three soldiers. He was also involved in destruction of Government Girls Primary School, Hazara.

Tahir Ali, son of Syed Nabi. He attacked armed forces, resulting in death of two soldiers.

Aftabud Din, son of Farrukh Zada was involved in attacking law enforcement agency, which resulted in death of a police official and injuries to another.
