The Prime Minister House has rejected remarks attributed to PM Shahid Khaqan Abbassi regarding the involvement of Pakistanis in an attack in Afghanistan.

“The remarks are simply baseless and have no reference to discussions with any media person,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement on Monday.

“I don’t know all the details, but it seems three or four people crossed over the border. There was a vehicle which travelled from that area to Kabul and was parked in an embassy compound before it blew up,” the prime minister was quoted as saying by the Financial Times.

However, the PM House said, Abbasi has repeatedly argued that attacks in Pakistan are being orchestrated from across the border.

It “advised the relevant print media to carefully review the contents of discussions before reporting.”

At least 90 people were killed and hundreds wounded when a massive truck bomb ripped through Kabul's diplomatic quarter in May this year.

While Islamabad blames Kabul for hosting Jamaatul Ahrar and other militants, Afghanistan also routinely accuses Pakistan of providing safe haven to the Afghan Taliban.
