District govt introduces O’ level education in Bhakkar
DC says initiative will prove vital in promoting quality education

O’ level education has been introduced at District Public School (DPS) Bhakkar due to the efforts of the district government.
With the initiative, Bhakkar District has earned an honour to rank among those 16 districts of Punjab having O’ level education system. This was said by Deputy Commissioner Syed Bilal Haider while inaugurating O’ level classes at the new campus of DPS on Wednesday.
Education reforms: O-Level classes being introduced in DPS
The O’ Level inaugural Ceremony was largely attended by the officers of district administration, district education authority, district health authority, teachers, parents and other government departments. On the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that O’ Level Education initiative would prove a milestone with regards to promotion of standard education in the district.
He added, “DPS Bhakkar has emerged as the centre of excellence with the start of O’ level education system under an initiative of Board of Management (BOM) for high standard education.”
Bilal Haider congratulated the administration, teachers and parents of DPS on start of O’ level programme and maintained that it was a matter of honour not only for DPS but also for the entire district.
The deputy commissioner said that the parents, who got their children enrolled in O’ level classes, reflected an appreciable spirit and interest for high standard education of their children. Parents, who attended the inauguration ceremony, appreciated the initiative taken by district government.
Rural Punjab enrolment up but standards deteriorate
Irtaza, a parent, said that O’ level education system was the need of the hour to get the children accustomed with the modern world. Similarly, Yasir Qureshi, father of a student said, “Bhakkar district government deserves applause for introducing o-levels.”
He added, “We were worried about our son who wanted to attend boarding school to get admission in o-levels, but now we are happy to have o-levels education system in our town.”
Haider announced that FSc classes would commence at DPS from the next academic year. While referring to the promotion of Science education, he pointed out that MSc classes would begin in colleges of the district from October 1, 2017, for which all arrangements had been finalised.
