Multan tightens security ahead of Muharram

Liaison will be established among all the institutions to ensure security of sensitive places

MULTAN: Deputy Commissioner Multan Nadir Chattha has said strict security arrangements would be made on the occasion of Muharram processions and teams have been constituted to ensure exemplary security arrangements.

Addressing a meeting at Circuit House Multan, Chatha said a liaison would be established among all the institutions to ensure security of sensitive places. He said all the encroachments on the route of the processions would be removed. He directed religious scholars of all schools of thought to develop an atmosphere of brotherhood, peace and tolerance.



He further directed the staff of various institutions including WASA, Solid Waste Management, Rescue 1122, district council and corporation to cooperate with one another in completion of security arrangements.

“Teams have been constituted to resolve issues on the spot. Better quality street lights will be fixed and extra contingents of police will be deployed on the routes of Muharram processions,” the deputy commissioner added. He maintained that wall chalking would not be allowed and strict action would be taken against the violators in this regard.



Chattha said safe city project worth millions of rupees was being initiated for the safety of the citizens of Multan.

“Safe City Project will develop a sense of security among the citizens and also help in curbing the crimes,” he added. “Establishment of peace is the need of the hour and for this purpose we have to work together.”

Chattha said in all sub-districts of Multan special meetings would be arranged to resolve conflicts among various schools of thoughts and to develop harmony, adding that a central control room would be established at the committee room of Deputy Commissioner Office.
