VC says admissions will be made strictly on merit

LAHORE: The Punjab University has announced its new admission policy and schedule of annual admission to MA and MSc and BS Honor (4 year) programme for academic session 2017-2018 starting from September 18 to 28.

Unfolding the salient features of new policy, VC Prof Zaffar Mueen Nasar while talking to faculty members said that all admissions would be made strictly on merit and a high level admission committee comprising all deans, directors, principals of constituent colleges headed by most senior dean faculty of engineering Dr Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt has been constituted to monitor the overall process of fresh admission in all disciplines.

He said merit lists would be displayed according to schedule on notice boards of each teaching department by the directors, chairpersons and heads of the departments concerned.

He said that for the first time in the history of the varsity since its inception on October 12, 1882, all fool-proof measures have been adopted at all levels to ensure transparent admission without succumbing to any pressure.

He said that affidavit to be submitted by all desirous candidates had also been modified wherein they would be bound to abide by law of land and refrain from indulging in anti-state activities directly or indirectly.

He added that special arrangements had also been made at department level to redress the genuine grievances of candidates promptly and candidate facing any problems in connection with admission can also even see chairman admission committee of dean of the concerned faculty.

About PhD and M. Phil admissions, the VC said that he personally visited all departments and monitored the process of admission and by the grace of Allah, all candidates who obtained requisite marks in entry test were given admission purely on merit.
