LAHORE: The student body of the Forman Christian College University (FCCU) has called-off its protest against the Punjab government scheduled to be held on Monday (today).

On Saturday, it announced to hold a protest against the government for shutting down the varsity and using its campus for parking for the World XI series, taking place on September 12, 13 and 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium. The student body was offended at the decision of the government as it had said the university sports grounds will be used for parking.

“However, after receiving written assurance by the Lahore Division Commissioner to not use the FCCU for future matches, we have decided to call-off our protest,” FCCU Character Building Society President Aasif Javed told The Express Tribune on Sunday. The following week was the first academic week at the FCCU and the sudden closure for a week was the reason to call off the protest, he added.
