Family reportedly agrees to settle matter by accepting compensation

A man was allegedly shot by the Badhaber police late on Wednesday night during a raid on a house in the Mashko Khel Village, but officials are now trying to cover up the matter, local officials have claimed.
A local nazim, who did not wish to be named, said that the Badhaber police had raided the house of 45-year-old Mohabat Shah in an attempt to arrest his 15-year-old son who is wanted in a murder case.

“The suspect, Umair, had a quarrel with the local hair dresser during the month of Ramazan after which the former shot the latter injuring him slightly. However, the matter was later settled through a local jirga which imposed a penalty of Rs30,000 on Shah to pay for the damages. But they were unable to pay the damages,” said the nazim.
Late on Wednesday night, a large contingent of Badhabher police, led by SHO Badhaber Sheryaer, raided Shah’s house without informing local elders.
“He [Shah] was on the rooftop, taking care of his pigeons. Police mistook him for someone taking up position on the rooftop and fired at him. He was struck and died on the spot. Police later fled the area after discovering that they had killed a man,” the nazim claimed, adding that Shah was rushed to the Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) in Peshawar by no doctor was available to tend to the injured man for three hours.

The nazim further said that they asked the SHO about the incident who denied having killed anyone.
However, when the locals approached the local Deputy Superintendent of police, he visited the hospital and later the site of the incident.
