CM Sindh allots land for oil tankers parking

Express May 21, 2010

KARACHI:

Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah has approved 150 acres of land in Zulfiqarabad for parking oil tankers.

A hundred acres of land still need to be allotted to find a comprehensive solution to the problem.

The approval came in light of the Supreme Court's order for oil tankers parking to be moved from Clifton Block on Thursday.

Residents of the area claimed that the oil tankers parked in their neighborhood created pollution and traffic jams.

The court issued notices to 27 oil companies and directed the government to provide alternate parking spots for oil tankers in Karachi.
