Rs12.64b power subsidy announced for Industrial sector
'Purpose of package is also to stimulate economic activity'

As part of Prime Minister’s Industrial Support Package announced in February 2016, Ministry of Finance approved on Thursday the release of Rs12.64 billion subsidy on power supply to industrial sector.
The government, in 2016, had also provided industrial support subsidy amounting to Rs5.6 billion, a finance ministry press statement said.
Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar said that government support for industrial sector is aimed at boosting manufacturing activity and enhancing exports of value-added products.
“The purpose of the package is also to stimulate economic activity leading to greater job opportunities in the country,” the minister added.
