PESHAWAR: Activists, including those from minority groups, on Wednesday, staged a protest against enforced disappearances and unlawful detentions of fellow activists and journalists.

They gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and called for the immediate release of all such missing persons.

Moreover, the protestors chanted slogans in favour of their demands.

“Social activists and journalists are being picked up without following the due legal process. Their cases are not heard in the court of law, making their family members suffer,” said Sana Ijaz, a social activist.

She went on to claim that over 1,300 applications have so far been filed against forced disappearances, adding that contrary to popular belief that most of the victims were Baloch, many missing people were actually Pukhtoon.
