KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Zubair Tufail has pledged to arrange funds through Export Development Fund (EDF) to the private sector for setting up research and development centres for development of horticulture sector. Addressing a meeting by All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporter Association (PFVA), he said that the proposal to extend 5% financial assistance to the horticulture sector was submitted to the government. However, despite assurances this facility could not be extended, he deplored. He asked the PFVA to prepare a comprehensive plan and submit it to the FPCCI within a month for establishment of R&D centres in Sindh & Balochistan so that necessary funds can be provided through EDF.
