MARDAN: The Mardan police on Monday booked a district nazim after he allegedly manhandled an on-duty physician at the Mardan Medical Complex.

The DPO lodged an FIR against Himayatullah Mayar on the complaint of Dr Shakeel Ahmed, who had submitted an application after consulting the medical superintendent and other high-ranking officials at the medical facility.

According to the FIR, Mayar allegedly threatened to kill the doctor while he was in a meeting with three of his colleagues and forced him into the ward and kept him under wrongful confinement for a prolonged time.

In a letter addressed to the DPO, the hospital’s administration warned that they would go on strike and suspend all services if the police fail to take action against the district nazim.

The City Police Station subsequently registered the FIR against Mayar under sections 198, 506, 500 and 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
