NEW DELHI: India's foreign ministry said on Monday it had agreed with China to an "expeditious disengagement" of troops at a disputed border area where soldiers from the two countries have been in a stand-off for more than two months.

'Chance of war' between nuclear-armed China and India

"In recent weeks, India and China have maintained diplomatic communication in respect of the incident at Doklam," India's Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, referring to the area in the Himalayas close to the borders of China, India and Bhutan. "On this basis, expeditious disengagement of border personnel at the face-off site at Doklam has been agreed to and is on-going."

China 'pleased' India withdraws from disputed border

China said Monday it was 'pleased' that India had agreed to withdraw troops from a disputed border with Bhutan following a months-long standoff in the Himalayas.

China may initiate ‘limited war’ with India

Foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying confirmed that Indian troops and equipment had pulled back while "Chinese troops continue to patrol on the Chinese side of the boundary".

Vectra | 7 years ago | Reply Some Pakistani media reported that it was unilateral troops withdrawal by India which is completely wrong. The troops withdrawal was mutual not unilateral by one side. I suggest please refer to some International sites if not Indian or Chinese to get a clear picture. The fact is China has backed off, road construction has been stopped,India's objective was achieved and status-quo restored and both sides returned to their pre June 16 position. Both sides mutual troops withdrawal was officially verified in persons by both nations military. Here is a complete story for real facts. "India, China agree to pull back troops to resolve tense border dispute"----Washington Post Good to see the 70 long days dispute resolved with mutual troops withdrawal. This is how two large powers maturely behaves and solves disputes. The solution is only on the table not guns. Jawed Ali | 7 years ago | Reply India was able to push China back in a territory which China claims it's own. India is not claiming that land but saying it is Bhutan's.. India was able to push it's will in a land of 3rd country... China was stopped constructing road in a territory within China (as China claimed earlier).. Now both Bhutan and Chinese army can patrol the area as it was before Jun 2017.. India was never intended to reside in 3rd country. India's objective was to stop the construction of Roads.. that's it.. And Finally China accepted not to build any Road.. If it will start building again then again Indian Forces will be there.. It's winning for Indian Diplomacy..
