Bail Petition: Inquiry ordered against magistrate
LHC ordered a Member of its Inspection Team (MIT) to hold an inquiry against a Daska judicial magistrate.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered a Member of its Inspection Team (MIT) to hold an inquiry against a Daska judicial magistrate who had granted bail to a lawyer in a fraud case.
Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry also directed the MIT to look into orders passed by Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Salman Elahi in the past six months and compile a report in one week.
Petitioner Tahir Mahmood submitted that lawyer Faisal Mahmood Cheema had been granted bail on the same day the police had presented him before Elahi seeking his physical remand.
He said that in doing so, the magistrate did not follow the law.
