Pakistan's biggest health sector event kicks off

Three-day event brings together foreign delegates, healthcare industry professionals

Governor Muhammad Zubair inaugurated on Tuesday Pakistan's biggest health sector event, ‘Health Asia and Pharma Asia International Exhibition,’ at Karachi Expo Centre.
The event attracted foreign delegates related to the health and pharmaceutical industry. Speaking to the media, Zubair said that the country’s image in improving through international exhibitions being held in Pakistan. The governor added that the advantages of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) can be seen through such events.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, project director of the exhibition and E-commerce gateway vice-president Farhan Anis said that the three-day exhibition will take place till August 24 and will bring together thousands of health care industry professionals all under one roof, to present the latest industry innovations, networks and business.
The 13th Pharma Asia International Exhibition, which is also the official event of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, will showcase innovation from foreign countries. This exhibition will also bring together a series of more than 30 seminars.


Health budget gets 25% boost

According to Anis, the advantages of CPEC in the health and pharmaceutical industry include relocation of health and pharmaceutical industry from China to Pakistan, value addition in health and pharmaceutical industry of Pakistan, which will increase joint ventures, investment and technology transfer from China to Pakistan.
The event, on its first day, incorporated seminars, workshops and conferences as foreign speakers spoke on pharmaceutical practices, anesthesia, radiology, cardiac surgery, ENT, neurology, maternal health, dermatology, tobacco control, basic life support and stress management.

One of visitors at the event, Dr Bashir Alvi, said that it is good to see all pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturers, medical and surgical equipment and instrument providers, medical institutions, hospitals, labs, pharmaceutical products, raw material supplies and allied services under one roof for innovating existing industries.
