Sindh govt is providing best health services to people: CM

Murad Ali Shah wants health dept to support private partners in providing improving the services

KARACHI: The Sindh government is delivering best health services through public-private partnership and this can further be strengthened by solving its teething problems, said Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah.



The CM said this while presiding over a meeting on health services that have been launched under public-private partnership mode in the province. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Principal Secretary to CM Sohail Rajput, Health Secretary Fazal Pechuho, Finance Secretary Hassan Naqvi and others.

According to the CM, the provincial government is successfully providing health services through private partnership and an improved system may soon be evolved so that the residents of Sindh can be benefited from this.

Health minister told the meeting that the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Badin, which has been handed over to Indus Hospital management, is being operated to its best. Giving details about other health facilities that are being operated by different non-governmental organisation, health secretary said 111 health facilities have been given to Integrated Health services, 13 facilities in Thatta and Sujawal have been handed over to Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation and 39 facilities in Karachi to Health and Nutrition Development Society. The CM directed health minister to visit 111 health facilities and give submit him a progress report.

The CM gave directions to the health and finance departments to resolve all the outstanding issues with private partners, particularly the problems related to budget. Following the CM's instruction, the finance department released Rs354 million for DHQ Badin for construction of waiting areas, washrooms and such other facilities for the visitors and the patients at the hospital.



The Sindh government is operating Peoples Ambulance Service in partnership with Aman Foundation in Sujawal and Thatta. The CM has approved an ambulance service for Badin and Tando Muhammad Khan districts. During the meeting, it was also decided that the health department will facilitate private partners in expansion of their services.
