A teenage boy died after being dared by his peers to 'jump' in the Jhelum river, with the footage of the incident going viral on social media.
In the footage, 19-year-old Ali Abrar's friends could be heard challenging him to swim through the stream. The youth had reportedly been promised Rs15,000 cash and a mobile phone in exchange for his stint.
According to Express News, the youth and five of his friends had arrived at Kohala bridge from Gujarat. Abrar eventually jumped to cross the river but was whisked away by the gushing stream. A search for his body is underway despite passage of a day.

Meanwhile, Bakaut area police have apprehended Abrar's friends and registered a case against them on his father's request.
Nearly a week ago, five people from the same family drowned at Hawkesbay beach, Karachi, while bathing in the sea. The incident occurred despite the provincial government having imposed a ban on swimming.
Earlier this year, four boys, studying at a private school, drowned at Karachi’s Sandspit beach near Hawksbay.
