ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhary on Thursday said that corruption is the mother of all evils and reiterated NAB’s commitment to punish those involved in corruption.

He was chairing a meeting to review the performance made by the operations division at the NAB Headquarters. The accountability bureau believes in eliminating corruption with iron hands using all its resources, he said, adding that the present management had taken multiple steps to revamp the organsation.

He termed 2014 as the year when the apex anti-graft body started to re-invigorate its operations. A restructuring program had been put in place after thorough analysis of the anomalies present in the system, he added. Zaman said the organisational reforms not only breathed new life into the organisation but also infused it with a new character - a character marked by fairness, objectivity, professionalism, transparency and merit.

He said that the measures taken by the present management include introduction of combined investigation team (CIT), streamlining of SOPs, clearly defined job descriptions, and rationalisation of workload. In addition, introduction of quantified grading system and internal accountability mechanism have had a great impact on the output of each official associated with the NAB, he said.
