ISLAMABAD:

The major demands made by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Islamabad have been provisionally approved by the Prime Minister (PM) and were announced in the National Assembly on Monday.

The PM said a service structure review means an increase in salaries and regularisation of jobs for doctors on contract. Pims Joint Executive Director Dr Jehanzaib Aurakzai said that all three demands; service structure, pay raise and regularisation of contract doctors of YDA had been accepted in principle but modalities have yet to be worked out. “A committee comprising the health, finance and establishment secretaries is working on it,” he added.

YDA Islamabad President Dr Muhammad Sajid said, “Increase in salaries does not mean a lot to us. What made us content is the new service structure and regularisation of 106 on-contract doctors.”
