Punjab Livestock Department is offering financial incentives to cattle farmers for keeping males of different animals to serve as breeding centres in rural areas.
Cows, buffaloes given to 62 deserving women
The holders of quality Buffalo (male) or Bull were being given Rs3,000 per month, while Rs800 for Buck (goat-male) and Rs800 for Ram (sheep male), in the district. This was stated by Livestock Department Additional Director Dr Sabtain on Monday. He said they were providing these incentives against 297 buffaloes,197 cows, 215 bucks and 869 Rams.
