Met Warning: High temperatures up flood fear
High temperatures, rapid glacier melting rate and heavy rains might lead to glacial lake flooding in these areas

The Met Office has issued an alert for Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral regions, forecasting a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF). “The persistent heat wave conditions in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral are likely to increase by more than five-degree centigrade for the next three or four days,” the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said. “High temperatures, rapid glacier melting rate and heavy rains might lead to glacial lake flooding in these areas,” it cautioned.
