A transgender man in Portland has given birth to a boy on July 14, CNN reported.

Trystan Reese and his partner of seven years, Bill Chaplow announced the birth of their first child, Leo Murray-Chaplow in a Facebook post, adding that both, the baby and father, were in good health.

The couple, who adopted Chaplow’s niece and nephew in 2011, are not new to parenting. Using Facebook as a medium to document their parenting adventures, they broke the pregnancy news through a video in January.

In a video posted two months later, Reese, born female, explained his decision to carry a baby as a transgender man. "I'm OK with my body being a trans body," he said. "I'm OK being a man who has a uterus and has the capacity and capability of carrying a baby."

Speaking to CNN in June, Reese said he stopped taking testosterone to prepare for the pregnancy. "We've been under medical supervision the entire time to make it as healthy and safe as possible,” he said.

However, it was not all easy for the couple. Where the couple received love and support from some, others threw negativity at them.

"We find that behind the shroud of anonymity, people feel pretty empowered to tell us what should happen to us, to our children, to our family," Reese said. "The reason why you have a kid is because you want to see more love in the world, and remembering how difficult that's going to be, it's hard."
