A judicial magistrate in Lahore on Saturday sentenced the main accused in Khadija stabbing case to seven years in prison.
The court ordered police to immediately arrest Shah Husain on charges of attempted murder.
Khadija and her lawyer, Hassan Niazi took to Twitter to express relief at the court's decision. Where Khadija tweeted a simple 'Alhumdulillah', Niazi tweeted pictures with a caption 'Justice served'.

In another tweet, he informed of the sentence. "Shah hussain taken to jail for 7 years. Khadija well done. Thank you everyone for ur support. Alhumdulillah did it," he wrote.

Stabbed 23 times, survivor to sit in same exam as her attacker
In May 2016, Khadija Siddiqui had gone to pick her seven-year-old sister up from school when she was attacked by her class fellow Shah Hussain from behind. Hussain allegedly stabbed the 22-year-old 23 times, critically injuring her. Subsequently, a case was filed at the Lahore High Court with substantial evidence, identifying the attacker following which the suspect was sent behind bars.
