PPP cashes in on crisis with ‘Go Nawaz Go’ rally
Participants say PM has lost his credibility and moral authority to stay in office
LAHORE:
With the country’s fate hanging in the balance, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) took the opportunity to display its political power in the provincial capital by staging a ‘Go Nawaz Go’ rally on Sunday.
PPP Lahore President Azizur Rehman Chan led the protest rally, which was taken out from Shimla Hill (Lahore Press Club) to Aiwan-e-Iqbal.

Addressing the rally participants, Aziz reiterated his party’s demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. He said Sharif had lost his credibility and moral authority to remain in office. “The PPP is committed to safeguard public interest and the time is ripe to send the whole Sharif family packing over corruption,” he remarked.
“Rulers believed they can go scot-free by removing PPP banners from streets, but the entire nation is waiting for the logical conclusion of the Panama case. PM Sharif should immediately step down from his position and let democracy continue in the country,” he said.

Criticising the ruling party, the PPP leader said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) always started those projects in which it got huge kickbacks and was merely “showing off”. “These politically motivated development schemes have already caused great losses to the national exchequer with the corruption and dishonesty of the rulers.”
A large number of PPP activists participated in the ‘Go Nawaz Go’ rally. The PPP workers and supports were holding banners and placards on which anti-government slogans were inscribed.
