PESHAWAR: Hundreds of students pursuing admissions to undergraduate degree programmes have failed to register for an aptitude test, owing to lack of awareness and glitches in the Education Testing Council’s website.

Students hailing from various districts have blamed the newly-introduced testing system for not being able to register before the deadline. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) had set July 17 as the last date for registration.

The commission had in January made it mandatory for students, seeking admission in undergraduate programmes, to appear for the Education Testing Council (ETC) test in order to secure an admission.

Student Hanif Khan criticised the HEC for not creating enough awareness about the new testing system.

“When I came to know about the new testing system, I rushed to HEC’s Peshawar office but they refused to provide me with any assistance,” Hanif said.
