Custody row: 6-month-old handed over to mother

LAHORE: The district and sessions judge on Friday handed over a six-month-old to the mother after recovering it from the father’s custody.

The complainant, Rukhsana Bibi, a resident of Baghbanpura, had filed a petition in Judge Abdul Waheed Khan’s court saying that she had married Altaf Malik in July 2007 and had a son, Aun. She told the court that their relationship started to deteriorate soon after the birth of their son. She said that Malik started beating her and turned her out of their house and kept the baby. She said her family had requested him several times to return the baby to the mother, but he had refused. She had asked the court to recover the child from her husband and hand it over to her.

The judge then issued notice to Malik through Baghbanpura SHO directing him to appear before the court with the child. On Friday, the child was handed over to the mother.
