Doctors degrees: Polyclinic affiliated with QAU

The medical institute will offer specialisation and diplomas to doctors in various fields.

The Postgraduate Institute of Polyclinic Hospital is now affiliated with Quaid-e-Azam University after the President of Pakistan approved the plan.


A 13-member academic council was constituted with Professor Dr Iftikhar Malik appointed as the dean of the institute and Dr Ifitkhar Ahmed Naru as the secretary, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Starting this year, specialisation classes will begin in fields such as cardiology, neurology, dentistry, radiology, urology, surgery, laboratory, hospital management and 25 others.

Doctor of Medicine will be in offered medicine, pediatric, cardiology, neurology while Masters of Science  in general surgery, orthopedic, hospital management, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, dental and gynecology. Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in dentistry, histopathology, and hematology will be offered while diplomas will be offered in radiology, dentistry, gynecology, pathology, hospital management and other fields. Diploma courses will also start this year.

Officials said providing specialisation to doctors will give them the opportunity to understand their profession well and explore new fields.
