India’s Sania Mirza cruised to the quarter-finals of the Family Circle Cup WTA tournament with a straight-set victory over German Sabine Lisicki.
Mirza defeated Lisicki 6-4, 6-4 in the second round of the singles category of the clay-court event.
The Indian will now face Chinese 11th-seed Shuai Peng who upset Russian Nadia Petrova 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in another second-round match of the $721,000 tournament
Mirza also advanced to the quarter-finals in the doubles category. Mirza along with her Russian partner Elena Vesnina managed an upset victory over second-seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymonds.
