Punjab IG directs officers to circulate new rules in all districts

Punjab police have decided to amend police rules concerning the recruitment and retirement ages of different ranks.
The decision was taken during a meeting held at the Central Police Office Lahore on Tuesday. Punjab Inspector General Police Usman Khattak chaired the meeting, while the additional inspector generals of Establishment, PHP, Welfare, Finance, Operations, Investigations, Discipline and other senior police officers attended the meeting.
Hundreds of additional cops to be hired to police CPEC
Usman issued orders to amend the recruitment and retirement age. Now the recruitment age has been fixed at 18 to 22, while the retirement age of a constable is 50, head-constable 52, ASI 54 and SI 65.
The meeting also focused on amendments to police welfare rules, especially family claims for recruitment. It was decided that candidates for recruitment on the basis of family claims would have to fulfil all legal formalities.

Usman directed police officers to circulate the new rules in districts and also ordered the establishment additional IG to remove hurdles in the promotions of police officials and officers. He added meeting of promotion boards for SIs, inspectors and DSPs must be held at the earliest.
