Security on top for footballers

LAHORE: Foolproof security measures were made on the occasion of international footballers match at Fortress Stadium on Sunday.

The route from airport to Avari Hotel was cordoned off completely and zero traffic was allowed. Diversions were set for the commuters and the hotel was well protected by the police and army personnels.  Before the arrival of international players, SP Civil Lines Ali Raza visited the hotel and reviewed its security measures.

Jammers were installed on the route side and snipers were deployed on rooftops nearby to spot any suspicious activity. The rehearsal of the security was also conducted a day earlier.  Teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and Divisional Police patrolled the nearby areas.

All the senior police officers also remained on duties to review the security measures. The route from hotel to the match venue was thoroughly checked by sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad. Moreover, the participants of the match were allowed entry after a thorough checking conducted with metal detectors.
