KARACHI:

Six years into its existence, the Pakistan women’s football team has been inducted into the Fifa Women’s World Rankings where it gets the 121st spot in the list that features 175 nations from all over the globe.

The national team, previously placed in Fifa’s provisional rankings, got the approval following their participation in the SAFF Championship earlier this year where Mehwish Khan became the first international goal-scorer for the country.

“We’ve worked hard for six years and appreciation from Fifa means much to us,” said Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Women Committee chair Robina Irfan, before hailing the PFF for its assistance in the development and promotion of the game among females.

“The PFF has done a lot for the development of the game. Fifa and the Asian Football Confederation also supported women football in the country. We’ve received a lot of encouragement following the ranking and we are now focused on improving that quickly.”
