AIOU launches cash awards for researchers

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will now give cash awards to students of higher education for completing internationally compatible quality research and producing commercially viable projects.

This was announced by the AIOU Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui while addressing the opening session of fifth National Conference on Physics and Emerging Sciences at the university’s main campus in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The best research award will be given to PhD students from across the country. Similarly, best research projects' award will also be available for students of MSc and BS.

These awards were being introduced from this year, and a sizable budgetary allocation has been made for this purpose, Dr Siddiqui said.

He further announced the constitution of a special fund for research and development activities for constructing and disseminating knowledge, through research journals and conferences.
