PESHAWAR: Security forces on Monday claimed to have foiled a terrorism bid after they reportedly defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the roadside at Aman Chowk, Dalazak Road within the jurisdiction of Paharipura police station.

The police were informed about the presence of an IED planted by miscreants at Aman Chowk after which a heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area, security officials said.
The Bomb Disposal Unit was called in, which inspected the device and defused it successfully, they added.
A police official told The Express Tribune that the target of the IED was a police mobile, but luckily it was spotted in time and defused.
“The remote-controlled IED contained around four kilogrammes of highly explosive material,” he added.
Two IED blasts rock Peshawar
This was the second attempt to target security forces in Peshawar this year, which was thwarted.
Earlier in January, at least nine people were injured in a roadside blast targeting a Frontier Corps vehicle.
The convoy was passing by Charsadda Road within the jurisdiction of Dauadzai police station when it came under attack.
About six of the injured were civilians while three of them were security personnel.
