You'll soon able to share any type of file on WhatsApp

iOS users will be able to send a file of maximum 128MB in size while the limit for Android users is of 100MB

Nowadays, everything is about sharing, be it your ride, economy or social media. And it seems WhatsApp is determined to stay on top by making sharing easier.

Earlier, WhatsApp users were just able to share images and videos. However, it all changed over a year ago when Facebook-owned messaging app added support for PDF, Word documents, Excel sheets, Power Point slides and similar before enabling real time location sharing.

Now it seems that the messaging app is taking a step further as it is reportedly working on a new report that will allow users to share any type of file.



According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out an update for iOS, Android, Windows Phone users that will let users share all file types of archives and media files.

This would solve a major problem for many users, as earlier they had to share files that are not compatible via cloud services such as iCloud or Google Drive or convert the files in a supported format.

Further, the supposed update will enable users to share photos and GIFs without being compressed. However, videos might still need to be compressed as there’s size limitation. iOS users will be able to send a file of maximum 128MB in size while the limit for those using WhatsApp om Android devices is 100MB.

Additionally, if the feature is enabled, users will also be able to share all file types also using WhatsApp Web/Desktop. Maximum size limit for web/desktop version is just 64MB.

WABetaInfo claimed that the feature is currently being tested on select users at the moment.
