LAHORE: The weather took another turn for the better on Wednesday as the mercury dropped to 30 degree Celsius after scattered rain in isolated parts of the city.

Locals also got temporary relief from power cuts and the demand for electricity fell significantly.

However, in some low-lying areas, locals complained of water accumulation in streets and parks.

The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has also predicted more rains in different cities as moist currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating into upper and central parts of the country.

According to the weather report, a westerly wave is affecting most upper and central parts of the country and is likely to persist till Thursday. More rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in isolated places of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Rain is expected over the next 24 hours in a few places of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Zhob divisions. Light rain/drizzle is likely at a few places along the Sindh coast, while hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Rain, dust and thunderstorms with gusty winds hit scattered places of Punjab, K-P, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Quetta division.
