Lahore air quality turns 'unhealthy'
,

The provincial capital recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 147 on Tuesday, placing the city in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category.
At this level, individuals most vulnerable to poor air quality including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or heart conditions may experience health effects and are advised to limit prolonged outdoor activities.
Data showed that the concentration of PM2.5, the most harmful fine particulate matter capable of penetrating deep into the lungs and bloodstream, was 10.8 times higher than the annual guideline set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Experts warned that such elevated levels significantly increase the risk of breathing difficulties, aggravated asthma, cardiovascular problems, and other long-term health complications.
