Embezzlement: NAB arrests former PIDC CEO’s brother

After the arrest, NAB Lahore presented Zahid Mehmood in the accountability court

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested Zahid Mehmood in a case related to corruption in the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). The suspect is the brother of former PIDC chief executive officer Khalid Mehmood. The suspects were accused of fraud amounting to Rs125 million. The suspects allegedly used government money to buy 800 kanals of land at a rate well above the normal price. They bought the land worth Rs0.2 million per kanal for Rs1.3 million.  Khalid had already been arrested by NAB Lahore in April. The two suspects allegedly ignored PEPRA laws and prepared a tender illegally. After the arrest, NAB Lahore presented Zahid Mehmood in the accountability court.
