RAWALPINDI: The garrison city has finalised security arrangements for the eve of Youm-e-Ali which is expected to be observed on Saturday. According to a police spokesman, as many as 2,000 armed policemen including personnel from the elite force, woman police and volunteers would be deployed along the procession routes apart from sharpshooters who would oversee the processions from the roof of important buildings. Moreover, CCTV cameras would be installed while participants would only be allowed to enter and join the procession from a single point. No one would be allowed to carry weapons in the processions. According to the programme, 101 congregations would be held to observe the day in addition to 24 mourning processions which would be taken out in the district. The main procession would be taken out from Mohanpura which would then proceed towards Kashmiri Bazaar, Fawara Chowk, Iqbal Road, Naya Mohalla and would culminate at the Col Maqbool Imambargh.
