KARACHI: Experts have warned about misdiagnosis for a group of diabetics.

In a paper published by the Diabetic Association-Pakistan, approximately 10 per cent of diabetics suffer from the subtype “latent autoimmune diabetes in adults” (LADA), which experts classify as a slowly progressing variation of type-one diabetes.

For this reason, many physicians confuse LADA with type-two diabetes, thereby prescribing the wrong amount of insulin necessary to treat the disease.
