Two men were sentenced to death in separate murder cases in Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday.
A court awarded death sentence to a man in a murder case. The judgment was announced by District and Session Judge Chaudhry Muneer Ahmad.
The prosecution told the court that accused Ghulam Akbar had gunned down Ghulam Mustafa over a dispute of laying pipeline in Sakhi Sarwar police limits. The police arrested the accused and registered an FIR no 15/83 against him.
The police produced the accused before the court where he was found guilty of the murder. After hearing witnesses and analysing the evidence, the court awarded death sentence to the Ghulam Akbar.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million that would be paid to the heirs of the victims.
Murder accused gets death penalty
The judge also announced that in case the accused failed to pay the compensation amount, they would have to undergo an additional six months imprisonment.
Meanwhile, in another judgment, a district and sessions court in Dera Ghazi Khan sentenced a man to death after he was found guilty of killing a man. However, three co-accused in the case were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
According to the prosecution, Murad Ali and his accomplices Sulaiman, Hanif and Saleem had killed Abdul Kareem a few years back over a dispute. Later, Saddar police registered a murder case 14/539 against the suspects and arrested them.
While announcing the verdict, District and Sessions Judge Majid Karim Farooq ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs0.1 million to the heirs of the deceased.
The court acquitted Sulaiman, Hanif and Saleem giving them the benefit of doubt.
